Q & A with Dr. Alan Weiner
What drew you to the Stamford area?
I have lived in Connecticut for more than 25 years. My entire professional medical career has been spent in Connecticut. Stamford is a growing, vibrant community in Southern Connecticut, only one hour from New York City. The city offers something for everyone. There is a great mix of rural New England charm along with an active downtown area. Connecticut is a great state for raising a family. My children and I enjoy summer days by the beach and winter days in the snow.
What do you enjoy about working for Stamford Health & Immediate Care Center at Tully Health Center?
A new hospital was built in Stamford in 2015. Everything still feels brand new. ED Physicians are given all the tools that are needed for success. There are superb ancillary services including 24-hour radiology coverage. Consultants are available in any specialty. There is a sense of camaraderie among the medical staff. We truly are a patient-centered organization.
What kinds of opportunities can a physician expect at Stamford Health and Immediate Care Center at Tully Health Center & USACS?
Physicians can expect to join a group of peers that are committed to both Patient Experience and Provider Experience. Our philosophy is that satisfied patients make for a satisfying work environment. USACS, along with our hospital partner gives our physicians the tools they need to be successful. As a Planetree organization, the patient is at the center of everything we do. There is a sense of teamwork in the ED among the providers, nurses, technicians and support staff who care for our patients. Together, we are committed to making our ED the best in Southern Connecticut.
How do you feel that USACS has supported you with challenges or opportunities?
USACS supports me on my journey of physician leadership. I could not be successful as a physician leader without the training and resources given to me by USACS. Graduating from the Scholars Program in 2013 prepared me for the challenges of being medical director. The ongoing training and feedback I receive allows me to grow as a physician leader and set higher goals for myself and my team.
